According to officials, the river was flowing at 311.22 metres, above the danger level of 311.10 metres.
Low-Lying Areas Under Watch
The rising water level has already affected several low-lying areas, while waterlogging on local roads has disrupted movement at some places. Residents living close to the river have been advised to remain vigilant as continued rainfall could further increase the water level.
Villagers are closely monitoring the situation, particularly in vulnerable areas along the riverbank.
Administration Steps Up Preparedness
The district administration has initiated precautionary measures and kept emergency response teams on standby to deal with any deterioration in the flood situation.
As a safety measure, schools in affected areas have been closed in view of the heavy rainfall and rising water levels. Water tankers have also been deployed to areas where residents are facing difficulties in accessing safe drinking water.
With the Baitarani already flowing above the danger mark, authorities are maintaining close watch on the river and surrounding areas. Further rainfall could increase water accumulation and intensify the flood threat in vulnerable locations.
