Berhampur, July 31 (UDN): Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, has constituted a five-member inquiry committee to investigate allegations of malpractice during the postgraduate (MD/MS) examination following recent media reports.
The committee was formed through an office order issued by the Dean and Principal of the institution on July 30. The panel has been asked to examine the alleged incident, which the college described as one that has “tarnished the image of the institution,” and submit its findings within three working days.
The inquiry committee will function under the chairmanship of the Dean and Principal and comprises senior faculty members and administrators, including Prof. Sudepa Das, Superintendent; Dr. Sweta Kumar Dash, Registrar (Administration) and Member Convener; Prof. Siba Prasad Pattanayak, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery; Prof. Chandra Sekhar Tripathy, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry; and Prof. Debabrata Nath Sharma, Professor of Anaesthesiology.
According to the office order, the committee has been tasked with investigating the allegations of examination malpractice, identifying any lapses in the conduct of the PG examination and establishing the facts surrounding the reported incident.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha, the Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, and the Controller of Examinations, Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) for information and necessary action.
The allegations have sparked concern among students and the academic community over the integrity of the postgraduate examination process. Officials said a thorough and impartial inquiry would be conducted, and appropriate action would be taken based on the committee’s findings.
The committee is expected to submit its report to the Dean and Principal within the stipulated three-day period, following which the institution and the concerned authorities will decide on the next course of action.
