Koraput, Sept. 22 (UDN): All schools in Koraput district up to the Higher Secondary level will remain closed on September 23 and 24 in view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, the district administration said on Tuesday.

The decision was taken by the Collector and District Magistrate as continued rainfall in several parts of the district has affected road conditions and made travel difficult, particularly for schoolchildren.

Staff To Attend Schools

While students will stay away from campuses, Headmasters, Headmistresses, teachers and other school staff have been instructed to report to their respective institutions as usual during the two-day closure.

The administration has cautioned that any violation of the order will be viewed seriously.

Rain Alert Through September 24

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Koraput from September 22 to 24.

The temporary closure has been ordered as a precautionary measure to minimise risks to students amid the adverse weather conditions.
