Bhubaneswar, July 24 (UDN): Odisha Police have arrested three persons in connection with the recent clash at Maharshi College in Bhubaneswar, where alleged reckless driving and abusive behaviour by outsiders inside the campus sparked panic among students and left one student injured.

The incident occurred on July 20 within the college premises under the jurisdiction of Saheed Nagar Police Station.

Reckless Driving Allegedly Sparked Tension

According to police, the accused allegedly entered the college campus in a vehicle and drove around recklessly, reportedly attempting to intimidate students. They also allegedly used abusive and obscene language, leading to an altercation with a group of students.

The confrontation soon escalated into a physical clash, during which one student sustained injuries.

Vehicle Seized, Probe Underway

Acting on a complaint, Saheed Nagar Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Three accused were subsequently arrested and produced before a local court.

Police also seized the vehicle allegedly used during the incident as part of the investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate that the arrested individuals are not students of Maharshi College but outsiders. Investigators are now trying to determine how they entered the campus and whether additional persons were involved in the incident.

CCTV Footage Under Examination

Police said CCTV footage from the college campus and nearby areas is being analysed to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify any other suspects.

The incident has once again raised concerns over campus security and the unauthorised entry of outsiders into educational institutions.

Officials said the investigation is continuing, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the probe.
