Bhubaneswar, July 5 (UDN): Tension prevailed in the Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar after a dispute between two groups allegedly escalated into a confrontation in which several youths were seen brandishing swords and machetes near Buddha Vihar, police said.

The incident occurred near Buddha Jayanti Park, where the armed youths reportedly moved through the locality, triggering panic among residents and passers-by. Videos of the incident, showing the youths carrying sharp-edged weapons in public, later surfaced on social media.

According to the Commissionerate Police, the clash is suspected to have stemmed from a personal dispute involving a love triangle. However, officials said the exact sequence of events is being investigated and all possible angles are being examined.

Police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information about the confrontation and brought the situation under control. No injuries were reported in the incident.

In an official statement, the Commissionerate Police said several persons allegedly involved in the confrontation had been identified and efforts were underway to apprehend them. Appropriate legal action will be initiated against those found responsible for creating public disorder and carrying deadly weapons in a public place.

The incident has raised concerns over public safety in the State capital, with local residents expressing alarm over the open display of weapons in a busy residential area. Police have stepped up patrolling in the locality to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.
