Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 (UDN): Five people were injured after a dispute over a Social media Live video reportedly escalated into a clash in Ghatikia area under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar during the ongoing festive celebrations.

According to preliminary information, the incident followed a Social media Live session in which a youth allegedly made caste-related remarks while discussing a case. The video subsequently circulated widely on social media, reportedly triggering resentment among members of another group.

The dispute escalated when members of the group reached Ghatikia, where a large gathering of youths had assembled for an immersion ceremony.

An argument reportedly broke out between the two sides near a festival pandal before turning into a physical clash. Police sources said two rounds of blank firing were also reported during the incident.

Five people sustained injuries in the violence and were subsequently taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, Bharatpur police launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the clash. Police have reportedly collected CCTV footage from the area and are examining the recordings to identify those allegedly involved.

A search is underway to trace the persons suspected of involvement in the violence and determine their respective roles.
