Dhenkanal, Oct 12 (UDN): Shalini Pandit, Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Finance’s Department of Financial Services and Central Nodal Officer for Dhenkanal district, reviewed the progress and ground-level impact of development initiatives under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks Programme during her visit on Monday.

The review focused on the implementation of key development projects, the delivery of public services and the extent to which government initiatives are benefiting their intended beneficiaries.

Inspects Key Development Projects

During her visit, Pandit inspected several institutions and development projects across the district to assess their functioning and progress.

Her itinerary included the Mango Hub Centre at Gobindapur, Maharshi Dayananda Seva Mission, Shakti Sadan, Jeevanjyoti School for the Intellectually Disabled, Borapada Anganwadi Centre and the Elephant Arrival Early Warning System at Shyamacharanpur.

She also visited the smart classroom and digital reading room at Brajanath Badajena High School, the permanent skill training laboratory at the District Headquarters Hospital, the One Stop Centre and the Handicraft Mart at Mahisapat.

At each location, she reviewed the implementation status of the projects and assessed how effectively the facilities were serving local communities. Particular attention was given to ensuring that the intended beneficiaries were receiving the benefits of these initiatives.

Reviews Progress with District Officials

Following the field visits, Pandit chaired a review meeting at the District Office, attended by departmental officers, representatives of development partner organisations and other officials.

The meeting assessed progress under the Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks Programme, with discussions centred on performance against key indicators and the implementation of development initiatives across various sectors.

Pandit expressed satisfaction with Dhenkanal’s performance against the programme’s key indicators and acknowledged the progress achieved in different areas.

Emphasis on Coordination and Public Welfare

During the review, Pandit urged officials to sustain their efforts, strengthen coordination among departments and ensure the effective implementation of government schemes.

She emphasised that development initiatives must translate into tangible benefits for the public, particularly for communities and individuals who are the intended recipients of government support.

The visit formed part of the ongoing monitoring and review process under NITI Aayog’s development programmes, which seek to accelerate progress in identified districts and blocks through targeted interventions, improved service delivery and coordinated administrative efforts.

The review is expected to help maintain momentum in Dhenkanal’s development initiatives and strengthen the delivery of public welfare programmes at the grassroots level.
