Puri, July 23 (UDN): Ahead of the grand Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha of Lord Jagannath and His siblings, the Puri Police has rolled out a comprehensive traffic advisory for two-wheelers to ensure smooth vehicular movement, effective crowd management, and the uninterrupted conduct of the sacred rituals.

With lakhs of devotees expected to throng the pilgrim town over the next few days, the advisory outlines designated routes and parking arrangements for vehicles approaching Puri from different directions.

Traffic Plan for Two-Wheelers

Vehicles arriving from Bhubaneswar

Two-wheelers entering Puri from the Bhubaneswar side will be routed via Malatipatapur, Batagaon, Mangalaghat Chhak, and Gokhasahi before being directed to the designated parking area at the Old Jagannath Ballabh Parking Centre (JBPC).

Parking will first be accommodated at the Matitota Playground. Once the area reaches capacity, vehicles will be diverted to the Matitota Helipad Parking Ground.

For the return journey, commuters can use either:

• Jatia Babaji Chhak – Kumbharpada Police Station – Atharanala – Batagaon, or

• The road connecting Shree Setu and Mangalaghat Chhak.

Vehicles arriving from Brahmagiri

Two-wheelers from the Brahmagiri side will travel through Mangalaghat Chhak and Gokhasahi before reaching the Old JBPC parking area. Parking will follow the same sequence—Matitota Playground first, followed by the Helipad Parking Area if required.

These vehicles will return through the same route.

Vehicles arriving from Konark

Devotees travelling from Konark will be guided through Baidas Nagar, Grid Sub-Station, Bhudan Chhak, Helipad Chhak, Penthakata Chhak, CT Road, and Subhash Bose Chhak before being directed to designated parking facilities near the Blue Flag Beach and Hotel Neelachal Ashok.

The return journey will also follow the same route.

Massive Influx of Devotees Expected

Police officials have appealed to devotees to strictly adhere to the prescribed routes and park only at designated locations to avoid congestion and ensure public safety during the festivities.

The advisory comes as preparations for the Bahuda Yatra enter the final phase. On Wednesday, the three chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra successfully completed the Dakshina Moda (south turn) near the Gundicha Temple, marking a significant ritual before the deities begin their return journey to the 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple.

Authorities have deployed additional police personnel, traffic officers, and volunteers across key junctions to regulate traffic and assist pilgrims during the festival, which is expected to witness one of the largest gatherings of the year.
