Bhubaneswar, July 13 (UDN): Veteran Odisha politician Prabhat Biswal formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, marking a significant political development ahead of the state’s evolving political landscape.
Biswal was inducted into the party in the presence of senior BJP leaders and was accompanied by hundreds of supporters, who also embraced the party during the joining programme. The large-scale induction is being viewed as a strategic boost for the BJP, particularly in the Cuttack–Choudwar region, where Biswal has maintained considerable political influence over the years.
Welcoming the new entrants, BJP leaders expressed confidence that Biswal’s experience and grassroots connect would strengthen the party’s organisational base and further expand its reach across the district.
Addressing party workers after joining the BJP, Biswal reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people and contributing to the state’s development under the party’s leadership. He urged his supporters to work collectively to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
Political observers believe Biswal’s entry into the BJP could reshape local political equations in Cuttack district, with the move expected to have an impact on future electoral strategies and party alignments.
The induction is part of the BJP’s continuing efforts to consolidate its support base in Odisha by bringing experienced political leaders and their followers into the party fold.
