Bhubaneswar, Sept. 17 (UDN): More than 13,000 junior teachers gathered at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, demanding regularisation of their services and urging the Odisha government to implement its earlier notification on the issue.

The large demonstration saw the participation of both male and female teachers from different parts of the state, who raised concerns over what they described as a prolonged delay in resolving their employment status.

Teachers Demand Action On Notification

The protesters claimed that the State government had issued an order concerning regularisation, but its implementation has remained pending.

They said they had assembled in the state capital with a specific demand for the regularisation of their jobs and sought early action from the authorities.

Court Proceedings Cited As Reason For Delay

According to one of the protesting teachers, a government order issued on April 2 was subsequently stayed by the High Court.

The agitator alleged that several months had passed since the legal proceedings began, but the government had not yet filed an affidavit in the matter, resulting in continued uncertainty among the teachers.

Protesters Seek Clarity On Service Status

The teachers said they had already gone through a difficult process to secure their postings and were now facing another prolonged wait over regularisation.

They alleged that repeated court dates had delayed the process and expressed dissatisfaction that the government’s earlier announcement and order had not translated into regular service status.

Demonstration Puts Issue Back In Focus

The sizeable gathering at Lower PMG has once again brought the regularisation demand of junior teachers into the spotlight.

The protesters said they would continue to pursue the issue until a decision is taken on their demand.
