The directive comes amid growing concerns over fire-related incidents in educational establishments across the country. OSDMA has instructed all concerned departments and district administrations to ensure strict compliance with fire safety norms in schools, colleges and other educational institutions.
As part of the initiative, institutions will undergo detailed fire safety audits to assess the availability and functionality of essential firefighting equipment, emergency exits, evacuation plans and other safety mechanisms. Authorities have also been asked to identify deficiencies and take immediate corrective measures.
The disaster management authority has emphasized the need for regular mock drills, awareness programmes and capacity-building exercises for students, teachers and staff members to enhance preparedness during emergencies.
Officials said the statewide audit aims to create a safer learning environment and minimize risks associated with fire hazards in educational institutions.
Further guidelines and timelines for the implementation of the audit process are expected to be issued by the concerned authorities in the coming days.
