Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 (UDN): The Kurmitar Iron Ore Mine operated by the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has received the ‘Pollution Control Excellence Award-2026’ from the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha, for its efforts in environmental management and pollution control.

The recognition highlights the mine’s initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of mining activities while maintaining operational efficiency.

Focus On Environmental Management

OMC has undertaken a range of measures at its mining areas to address pollution and strengthen environmental protection.

These include measures for controlling dust and air pollution, protecting water resources, increasing green cover and maintaining ecological balance in and around mining zones.

The mining corporation has also emphasised regular monitoring of potential pollution sources and the adoption of scientific and environment-friendly practices as part of its operational management.
