The initiative, named ‘Ama Rasta’, is being launched by the State Transport Authority (STA) and is expected to provide authorities with real-time information about accidents reported by the public.

According to an STA notification, citizens will be able to report road accidents by sending information through WhatsApp to 72899 11033.

Once an accident report is received, the system will automatically alert the nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO), police personnel, Master Trainers, rescuers and junior rescuers.

The automated alert mechanism is designed to reduce delays in communicating accident information and help emergency responders reach the location at the earliest possible opportunity.

Officials believe the initiative could play an important role in strengthening Odisha’s road-safety network by creating a faster communication link between citizens and emergency response teams.

The ‘Ama Rasta’ chatbot is expected to make accident reporting more accessible while supporting quicker intervention at accident sites.

The initiative comes as Odisha continues to focus on technology-driven measures to improve road safety and strengthen emergency assistance for road accident victims.
