Farmers can register till August 31; procurement for 2026-27 season to continue through March 2027
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 11 (UDN): Odisha is set to begin procurement of Kharif paddy for the 2026-27 season from November 1, with the state government urging farmers to complete their registration well ahead of the deadline.
The registration process began on August 6 and will remain open until August 31. Paddy procurement will continue until March 31, 2027, with the exercise being conducted district-wise based on the harvesting schedule.
Where Can Farmers Register?
Farmers intending to sell paddy through the government procurement system can register at their nearest authorised Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS) or Pani Panchayat.
They have been advised to collect a fresh registration form from the concerned cooperative society and submit the completed form within the stipulated period. The registration form is also available through the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department’s official website.
Officials have urged farmers not to wait until the final day to complete the process.
Aadhaar e-KYC for Sharecroppers
Sharecroppers will also be eligible to register, subject to submission of the required documents.
The registration of both the sharecropper and the landowner will be completed through Aadhaar-based e-KYC. The landowner’s presence will be mandatory during the registration process.
Farmers will also have to indicate the month and fortnight during which they plan to sell their paddy during the Kharif procurement season.
Those who registered during the previous procurement season have been advised to approach the same cooperative society for the renewal process.
Focus on Small and Marginal Farmers
The state government has emphasised the need to bring more small and marginal farmers into the official procurement system so they can benefit from government paddy procurement.
Cooperative societies have been directed to provide fresh registration forms to interested farmers and digitise the information submitted by them through the designated online system between August 6 and August 31.
Officials have also been instructed to ensure that the final list of registered farmers is accurate and free of errors to prevent delays in subsequent procurement activities.
Restrictions on Ineligible Land
Land that is not suitable for cultivation, as well as land where crops other than paddy have been grown, will not be registered for paddy procurement.
To assist farmers, cooperative societies will operate dedicated help desks to guide them through the registration and documentation process.

The Kharif paddy registration and procurement exercise is being jointly coordinated by the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Cooperation Department, and Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department of the Odisha government.
With procurement scheduled to begin from November 1, farmers have been advised to complete registration at the earliest and ensure that all required documents and details are submitted correctly.
