As part of the initiative, the government has allocated ₹200 crore to clear outstanding dues of closed cooperative spinning mills, knitting units, and sizing units. The move is expected to facilitate the resolution of long-pending liabilities and pave the way for the productive utilization of industrial assets.
The government has also decided to utilize approximately 261.2 acres of land associated with these defunct units for the establishment of new industries and investment projects. Officials believe that the redevelopment of these industrial sites will create significant employment opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth.
The initiative forms part of the state’s broader strategy to strengthen Odisha’s textile ecosystem, enhance industrial productivity, and attract private sector participation. By repurposing underutilized assets and promoting fresh investments, the government aims to accelerate industrialization and improve livelihood opportunities for local communities.
Industry experts have welcomed the decision, stating that the revival measures could help unlock the potential of Odisha’s textile sector while supporting the state’s vision of sustainable economic development.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and fostering industrial growth through strategic policy interventions and infrastructure development.
