Odisha Government Accelerates Establishment of 2,200 Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Vidyalayas Across the State

Bhubaneswar, July 9 (UDN): In a significant step towards strengthening school education and ensuring equitable access to quality learning, the Odisha Government has accelerated the implementation of its ambitious plan to establish 2,200 Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Vidyalayas (GMAVs) across the state.

The initiative is aimed at transforming the educational landscape by providing modern infrastructure, quality teaching, and holistic learning opportunities to students, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The Government is expediting the planning, infrastructure development, and administrative processes to ensure the timely establishment of these model schools.

A high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assessed the progress of the initiative and directed officials to fast-track all necessary procedures for the successful implementation of the project. The Chief Minister emphasized that access to quality education remains one of the government’s highest priorities and reaffirmed its commitment to building a robust and inclusive school education system.

The proposed Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Vidyalayas will be equipped with modern classrooms, science and computer laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, digital learning resources, and other essential infrastructure to create a conducive environment for academic excellence and overall personality development.

The schools are envisioned as centres of excellence that will nurture talent, promote innovation, and provide students with opportunities to compete at the national and global levels. The initiative also seeks to bridge educational disparities by ensuring that children from every region of Odisha have access to quality education closer to their homes.

The State Government has directed the concerned departments to ensure effective coordination in land identification, infrastructure development, staffing, and resource mobilisation so that the schools become operational in a phased and time-bound manner.

The establishment of 2,200 Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Vidyalayas reflects the Odisha Government’s commitment to strengthening public education, enhancing learning outcomes, and empowering the state’s youth through accessible, equitable, and high-quality education.
