Odisha Floods: CM Majhi to Take Stock of Ground Situation in Bhadrak, Jajpur

Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will visit flood-affected areas of Bhadrak and Jajpur districts on Monday to assess the situation on the ground and review ongoing relief and rescue operations.

The visit comes as several parts of the two districts have been affected by flooding following heavy rainfall, with damage reported to homes, roads and other infrastructure. The Chief Minister is expected to interact with affected residents and officials and assess the extent of damage.

CM to Review Relief and Rehabilitation

During his visit, Majhi will review the relief measures being undertaken for flood-hit people and hold discussions with district officials on immediate assistance, damage assessment and rehabilitation.

The state government has also cancelled the leave of all government employees in view of the prevailing rain and flood situation. Officials who had already gone on leave have been directed to return to duty and assist with relief operations.

Three IAS Officers Deployed

To strengthen the government’s response, three senior IAS officers have been assigned to the worst-affected districts.

Central Range RDC Sudhansu Samal has been tasked with overseeing the situation in Bhadrak, while Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director K. Sudarshan Chakraborty has been assigned to Balasore. Excise Commissioner P. Anwesha Reddy will supervise operations in Jajpur.

The officers will remain stationed in their respective districts and monitor flood preparedness, relief distribution and rehabilitation measures.

With several areas still facing the impact of flooding, the administration is maintaining close watch on water levels and the condition of affected communities. The Chief Minister’s field visit is expected to provide a clearer assessment of the situation and help expedite relief measures.
