According to the latest forecast, wind speeds of 40–50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph, are likely along and off the Odisha coast on August 17 and 18.
Fishermen Asked to Stay Ashore
In view of the expected deterioration in sea conditions, the IMD has strongly advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast until August 18.
The warning covers both fishing activities and movement in coastal waters, where strong winds and high waves could pose significant risks to boats and fishermen.
Coastal Communities Urged to Remain Alert
Fishermen and people living in coastal areas have been advised to closely monitor official weather updates and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
The IMD has urged all concerned to exercise caution during the period of adverse weather. Authorities are also expected to keep a close watch on coastal conditions and take precautionary measures wherever necessary.
The advisory comes amid an active spell of adverse weather in Odisha, with several parts of the state already experiencing heavy rainfall and flood-related conditions.
