Bhubaneswar, July 25 (UDN): A fresh low-pressure area is expected to develop over the north Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours under the influence of an active cyclonic circulation extending across north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather system is likely to trigger widespread rainfall across Odisha over the next few days, with several districts expected to receive heavy to very heavy showers.

Many parts of the state, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, have already witnessed intermittent rainfall as the prevailing weather system remains active.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, has forecast continued rain across most districts, with isolated locations likely to experience intense downpours.

An Orange Warning has been issued for Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert for possible waterlogging, localized flooding, and traffic disruptions.

A Yellow Warning has also been issued for 20 other districts, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Meteorologists expect the low-pressure system to influence Odisha’s weather until July 29. As the system gradually weakens and moves away, rainfall activity is likely to reduce in intensity thereafter.

Meanwhile, the IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea for the next three days due to rough sea conditions associated with the developing weather system. Coastal residents and local authorities have also been urged to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions.
