Iran Reopens Imam Khomeini International Airport, Mehrabad Airport; Air Travel Resumes Post-Conflict

Tehran, Apr 21(BNP): Air travel in Iran has begun returning to normalcy as operations resumed at the country’s two major airports—Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad Airport—following disruptions caused by recent conflict.

According to Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority, passenger flight operations have been officially permitted to restart at both airports, marking a significant step towards restoring aviation services.

International flights are expected to operate from Imam Khomeini International Airport, while Mehrabad Airport will primarily handle domestic and diplomatic services.

Authorities have also indicated that additional airports across the country will gradually resume operations in the coming days, signalling a phased recovery of Iran’s air transport network.

The reopening follows weeks of airspace restrictions and airport closures triggered by regional tensions, with officials emphasizing that services will return to full capacity in stages as safety and operational conditions stabilize.
