According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, one or two places in Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Ganjam, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, and Nayagarh are likely to experience spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

The weather office has advised people to exercise caution, particularly during thunderstorm activity. Residents have been urged to avoid taking shelter under trees, standing near electric poles, or venturing into open fields and water bodies when lightning occurs. Those planning outdoor activities are advised to monitor the latest weather updates before heading out.

The advisory comes as the state continues to witness the impact of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which has enhanced moisture incursion and triggered widespread rainfall across several parts of Odisha over the past few days.

The IMD has indicated that the prevailing weather conditions may continue for the next few hours, with intermittent rain and thunderstorms likely in the warned districts. Local authorities have also been advised to remain prepared for any weather-related emergencies.

The Meteorological Centre has appealed to the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins and follow safety advisories issued by the authorities.
