Bhubaneswar, June 29 (UDN): Former BJD leader Shreemayee Mishra is set to embark on a new journey in the entertainment industry as she prepares to make her acting debut in the upcoming Odia film ‘Pashapali’.

The film was formally launched on Monday with a ceremonial muhurat at the Jagannath Temple in Salepur in Odisha’s Cuttack district. The launch ceremony was attended by members of the cast and crew, marking the beginning of a project that has already sparked considerable interest in the state’s film and political circles.
Directed by veteran filmmaker Sanjay Nayak and produced by Prashant Kar under the banner of Bikalananda Kar Productions, ‘Pashapali’ is being billed as a political drama interwoven with socially relevant themes.
Although the makers have remained guarded about the storyline, the film’s title and political backdrop have triggered speculation about whether it draws inspiration from Odisha’s contemporary political landscape. However, Shreemayee chose not to reveal details about the narrative.
“The excitement that people usually have to watch a movie will definitely diminish if everything is disclosed in advance. I would only request people to extend their love and support to me in whichever role they see me,” she said.
Reflecting on her transition from public life to cinema, Shreemayee expressed confidence that the affection she received during her political career would continue in her new innings.
“There is a lot of difference between politics and the audience’s love. But having travelled to every nook and corner of Odisha, I believe the affection and blessings of people will always remain with me,” she added.
Apart from Shreemayee in the lead role, the film features Prithwiraj Nayak, Shubhranshu Nayak, Itishree, Rajashree and Dushmant in key roles.
The music for ‘Pashapali’ has been composed by noted music director Malay Mishra, while singers Rituraj Mohanty, Krishna Beura and Ira Mohanty have lent their voices to the soundtrack.
According to the production team, the film explores issues such as politics, unemployment and broader social concerns, while attempting to present possible solutions through its narrative. The screenplay is reportedly based on a book authored by producer Prashant Kar.
With its blend of political drama and social commentary, ‘Pashapali’ is expected to draw significant attention ahead of its theatrical release.
