Bhubaneswar, July 30 (UDN): The Odisha Fire and Emergency Services on Thursday launched a rescue operation to evacuate a pregnant woman from a flood-affected village in Balasore district and transport her safely to a hospital for medical care.

According to the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the woman, a resident of Bhagirathipur village, was rescued by a team from the Balasore Fire Services after floodwaters disrupted normal road connectivity in the area.

The rescue operation was carried out with the assistance of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers and the woman’s family members, who coordinated with the emergency response team to ensure her safe evacuation.

Officials said the woman was being shifted to a nearby healthcare facility for necessary medical attention. The operation was underway at the time of the official update.

The rescue highlights the ongoing efforts of the Odisha government and emergency response agencies to provide timely assistance to vulnerable residents in flood-affected areas. Fire Services personnel, district authorities and frontline health workers have been engaged in rescue, evacuation and relief operations across several districts impacted by heavy rainfall and rising river levels.
