Emphasising that the festival attracts lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure the timely completion of rituals, effective crowd management, uninterrupted public services, and robust emergency response systems.
To strengthen security, around 12,000 police personnel, including units of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), will be deployed across Puri. Nineteen senior IPS officers have been assigned to supervise security operations, while the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard will maintain surveillance along the coastline as part of the overall security framework.
Technology will play a key role in monitoring the festival, with 473 CCTV cameras being installed at strategic locations, including the Grand Road. In addition, 65 LED display screens will provide real-time updates, public announcements, and guidance to pilgrims throughout the city.
The state government has also strengthened healthcare and civic infrastructure for the festival. Eight temporary hospitals will be set up to provide emergency medical services, and nearly 1,700 bio-toilets will be installed to improve sanitation and public convenience. Officials have also been instructed to ensure food safety standards and prepare comprehensive emergency evacuation plans.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of seamless communication among government departments, security agencies, and service providers to respond swiftly to any emergency and maintain uninterrupted services during the festival.
The review meeting covered preparedness across key sectors, including law and order, transport, health, sanitation, disaster management, and pilgrim amenities, with officials directed to complete all arrangements well before the commencement of Rath Yatra.
