Umerkote, June 23 (UDN): Police in Odisha’s Umerkote have arrested a doctor, identified as Abinash Mohanty, on charges of allegedly cheating a woman of gold ornaments and cash and threatening to release private videos, officials said.

According to police sources, the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the woman, who accused the doctor of allegedly misappropriating her gold ornaments and money. The complainant also alleged that the accused had threatened to make certain videos public.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations. Following preliminary inquiry, Dr. Mohanty was taken into custody for further questioning.

Police said the accused has been booked under relevant sections of law, and efforts are underway to ascertain the full extent of the alleged offence.
