Bhubaneswar, July 13 (UDN): The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has announced a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the ISKCON Ratha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, and Sunabesha celebrations, with special arrangements to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees and maintain traffic flow around the ISKCON Temple in the city.
According to Commissioner of Police Dr. Suresh Dev Datta Singh, a large gathering of devotees is expected during the three major festivals. The ISKCON Ratha Yatra will be observed on July 16, followed by Bahuda Yatra on July 24 and Sunabesha on July 25.
To ensure public safety and prevent traffic congestion, temporary restrictions and diversions will be enforced under the provisions of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate Traffic and Public Order Regulations, 2008.
For Ratha Yatra and Bahuda Yatra, traffic regulations will come into effect from 3:00 p.m. onwards. Heavy vehicles approaching from the Khordha side will not be permitted to use the service road towards Fire Station Square until the chariots cross CRP Square. Vehicular movement will also remain suspended on stretches between DAV School, Unit-VIII, Mausimaa Temple, CRP Square, and the ISKCON Temple route during the procession.
Similarly, vehicles will not be allowed to enter the service roads leading to CRP Square from the Kasturba School side and the Nayapalli underpass until the chariots complete their passage.
For Sunabesha on July 25, traffic from CRP Square towards ISKCON Temple will be prohibited from 5:00 p.m. until the completion of the ceremonial darshan.
The police have clarified that the restrictions will not apply to emergency service vehicles, including police, fire and ambulance services.
The Commissionerate Police has appealed to commuters and devotees to plan their travel in advance, follow designated diversion routes, and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the celebrations.
