Cuttack, July 5 (UDN): Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Chauliaganj Police Station, Beauty Mohanty, was found dead in her official quarters in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Saturday, police said.

According to preliminary information, Mohanty was found lying unconscious inside her government residence. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

On being informed, senior police officers reached the quarters and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her death. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Police said no foul play has been established at this stage, and the exact circumstances leading to her death will be known only after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.

Forensic experts also visited the spot and examined the scene as part of the inquiry. Statements of family members, colleagues and other concerned persons are being recorded.

The sudden demise of the police officer has sent shockwaves through the police fraternity in Cuttack, with colleagues expressing grief over the incident.
