Ambulance Crew Braves Muddy 1.5 km Stretch to Rescue Woman in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Kandhamal,Aug. 5 (UDN): In a heartening display of dedication and compassion, an ambulance team in Odisha’s Kandhamal district went beyond the call of duty to ensure an ailing woman received timely medical care despite impassable roads caused by heavy monsoon rains.

The incident took place in Nedipaju village under Tikabali block, where an ambulance was dispatched after an emergency call. However, the vehicle was unable to reach the patient’s home as the village road had turned into a muddy, slippery stretch following continuous rainfall.

With the ambulance forced to halt nearly 1.5 kilometres away, the crew refused to let the challenging conditions delay the rescue. Carrying a stretcher, the team walked through the mud to the patient’s house, carefully placed the woman on the stretcher, and transported her back over the same difficult route to the waiting ambulance.

The patient was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where she received prompt medical attention. Officials later confirmed that her condition is stable.

The ambulance staff’s determination and selfless service have drawn widespread appreciation, highlighting the commitment of frontline emergency responders who continue to serve even under the most difficult circumstances.
