Balasore, Sept. 11 (UDN): A severe shortage of teachers at a government higher secondary school in Odisha’s Oupada block has disrupted classroom teaching, prompting students and local residents to demand urgent intervention from the state government.

With examinations drawing closer, students say the lack of faculty has hampered syllabus completion and left them anxious about their academic preparation.

Four Classes Without Dedicated Teachers

According to local reports, only two classes at the institution currently have regular teachers, while four other classes are operating without dedicated faculty members. The shortage has reportedly affected routine teaching, forcing students to cope with irregular lessons and unfinished coursework.

Students allege that they have repeatedly brought the issue to the attention of authorities, but the staffing crisis continues to persist.

Protests Over Academic Concerns

Frustrated by the prolonged delay, students have staged protests, including road blockades, demanding that vacant teaching posts be filled without further delay.

The issue has also gained the support of the area’s senior citizens’ forum, which has urged the district administration and the state government to take immediate steps to strengthen the school’s teaching workforce.

Call for Swift Government Action

Despite repeated representations from students, guardians and community members, no concrete solution has been implemented so far.

Residents have now appealed to the authorities to appoint adequate teaching staff at the earliest, warning that continued vacancies could further disrupt academic activities and adversely affect students’ performance in the upcoming examinations.
