Sept. 18 (UDN): The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for fresh admissions and re-registration for the July 2026 academic session until September 30, 2026.

The extension provides additional time for students, working professionals and learners seeking to resume their higher education to complete the admission process.

The extended deadline covers Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), PG Diploma and Diploma programmes. Certificate and semester-based programmes are excluded from the extension.

Rs 200 late fee for re-registration

Students applying for re-registration during the extended period will have to pay a late fee of Rs 200 in addition to the applicable programme fees.

The university has also announced a fee concession for eligible SC and ST students enrolling in select general undergraduate programmes.

50% fee waiver for eligible SC/ST students

SC/ST candidates seeking admission or re-registration in general UG programmes, including BA (General), BSc (General) and BCom (General), can avail themselves of a 50% waiver on admission and re-registration fees, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Students who are already receiving financial assistance or fee concessions from another official source will not be eligible for this particular concession.

How to apply

Candidates seeking fresh admission can complete the process through the official IGNOU admission portal, while existing learners eligible for re-registration can submit their forms through the university’s re-registration portal.

Students in Odisha requiring assistance can also approach the IGNOU Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar.

According to Senior Regional Director Dr Manoj Kumar Dash, students requiring support may contact the regional centre through its official email or helpline numbers.

The extension is expected to benefit learners who were unable to complete their admission or re-registration formalities within the earlier deadline.
