Coimbatore, July 21: The India GCC Trade Council (IGCCTC) announced the appointment of Dr. Renjith C.A. as the Trade Commissioner of the India GCC Trade Council for the Sultanate of Oman during the United Economic Summit 2026, held at the Radisson Blu, Coimbatore. The summit brought together diplomats, policymakers, trade officials, entrepreneurs and business leaders from India, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Africa to strengthen international trade, investment and strategic partnerships.
The appointment of Dr. Renjith C.A. marks an important step in expanding economic engagement between Tamil Nadu and the Sultanate of Oman. As Trade Commissioner, he will work closely with businesses, government agencies, industry associations and investors to facilitate bilateral trade, encourage investments and create new commercial opportunities between the two regions.
A key priority of his office will be to assist companies from Tamil Nadu in establishing their businesses in Oman, while also supporting Omani enterprises seeking partnerships and investments in India. He will serve as a bridge between industries in both countries by facilitating business delegations, B2B meetings, investment forums and strategic collaborations across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, food processing, education, renewable energy and technology.
Recognising Tamil Nadu’s internationally renowned healthcare infrastructure, Dr. Renjith C.A. will also work to promote medical tourism by creating greater opportunities for Omani patients to receive advanced medical treatment in leading hospitals across Tamil Nadu. Through partnerships with hospitals, healthcare providers and medical facilitators, the India GCC Trade Council aims to strengthen healthcare cooperation while offering world-class treatment options for patients from Oman.
The United Economic Summit 2026 served as an international platform for discussions on expanding trade, investment and strategic partnerships across India, the GCC and Africa. The event highlighted the growing importance of business diplomacy in today’s global economy, where governments, trade bodies and private enterprises are working together to build resilient commercial partnerships.
The summit was attended by several distinguished international representatives. H.E. Prof. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda to India, attended as the Chief Guest and addressed delegates on strengthening economic engagement between African nations and international partners. Joining the event as Guest of Honour was Murtadha M. J. Ibrahim Al Jamalani, Deputy Chairman of the Health Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who shared perspectives on expanding cooperation in healthcare, investment and commercial development between Oman, India and African economies and Mr. Bency George, Director – Indian Economic Trade Organisation attended the summit.
