New Delhi, Sep 7: India and the United States are looking to deepen their economic partnership by creating more opportunities for businesses and encouraging greater investment between the two countries.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor held discussions with senior Amazon executives on Monday on the company’s growing operations in India and the scope for expanding business cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting comes at a time when India and the US are seeking to strengthen trade and investment ties across technology, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, defence and other important sectors.
For the US, greater business opportunities in India could provide American companies with access to one of the world’s fastest-growing major markets. Increased investment and expansion by US companies could also support business growth, supply chains and employment.
For India, stronger participation by American companies could bring fresh investment, advanced technology, new business opportunities and greater integration with global supply chains. It could also support India’s ambitions to expand its manufacturing and technology sectors.
The two countries already cooperate across several areas, including commerce, defence, aerospace, pharmaceuticals and space. Increasing business engagement could help broaden this partnership beyond government-to-government cooperation and create more opportunities for private companies.
Amazon’s expanding presence in India is one example of the growing role of American companies in the Indian economy. Such investments can support areas including e-commerce, logistics, cloud services, technology and digital infrastructure.
Stronger economic ties can also benefit consumers and businesses in both countries by encouraging innovation, improving access to technology and opening new markets.
The latest engagement highlights the growing focus on turning the India-US strategic relationship into practical economic partnerships. Continued cooperation in trade, investment and technology could provide long-term benefits for both economies while strengthening their broader bilateral relationship.
