Bhubaneswar, July 31 (UDN): The Odisha Government has stated that the flood situation across the state remains under control, with continuous efforts underway to safeguard lives and ensure timely relief for affected communities.

Reviewing the flood situation, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari directed district administrations to complete damage assessment within 72 hours after floodwaters recede and expedite the disbursement of compensation to affected families.
The Minister also conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Keonjhar districts to assess the ground situation and review ongoing rescue and relief operations.
Emphasising that every human life is invaluable, the Minister said the protection of people’s lives and property remains the State Government’s highest priority. He urged all officials to continue working with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility until floodwaters completely recede and normalcy is restored.
According to official figures, nearly 1.89 lakh people have so far been evacuated to safer locations and relief shelters. More than 1.82 lakh people are currently being provided with cooked meals, dry rations and other essential services at 520 relief centres established across the affected districts.
The government has also made special arrangements for women, children, senior citizens and livestock at relief camps to ensure their safety and well-being.
Officials said water levels in major rivers are gradually receding and the overall flood situation is currently under control. However, the administration continues to maintain close surveillance over vulnerable areas that may still face flood-related risks.
To strengthen response efforts, 24 teams of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), six teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and 46 Fire Services teams remain deployed for rescue, evacuation and relief operations across the affected districts.
The State Government has reiterated its commitment to providing all necessary assistance to flood-affected people and ensuring prompt rehabilitation once the situation normalises.
