Bhubaneswar, July 29 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday alleged that the disappearance of key files from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and Lok Seva Bhawan was part of a “well-planned conspiracy” and asserted that the State government is committed to uncovering the truth through a Crime Branch investigation.
Speaking at a public function, the Chief Minister claimed that files relating to the Justice Mohapatra Commission and Justice Naidu Commission, constituted in connection with the investigation into the murder of Laxmanananda Saraswati, have gone missing. He alleged that the documents were deliberately removed during the tenure of the previous BJD government to conceal crucial facts.
Calling the disappearance of the records a serious matter rather than an administrative lapse, Majhi said the government has entrusted the Odisha Crime Branch with the investigation and directed it to identify those responsible.
“The disappearance of the investigation files is not an act of negligence but a carefully orchestrated conspiracy. The Crime Branch has been asked to conduct a thorough probe, and the truth will certainly come to light,” the Chief Minister said.
Majhi assured that his government would pursue the investigation to its logical conclusion and that no individual found involved in the alleged disappearance of the files or any related conspiracy would be spared.
The Chief Minister also referred to the killing of Laxmanananda Saraswati, alleging that the previous government had failed to provide adequate security to the spiritual leader and did not ensure that those responsible for the murder were brought to justice. He said the State government is determined to establish the facts surrounding the case.
“As the Chief Minister, I assure the people of Odisha that every effort will be made to expose the conspiracy and bring the real culprits before the public,” he said.
Majhi further said his government remains committed to preserving the legacy and ideals of Laxmanananda Saraswati while ensuring justice through a transparent investigation.
Touching upon broader issues of social harmony, the Chief Minister said the State respects all religions and believes in peaceful coexistence, but warned that any attempt to create communal divisions or hurt religious sentiments would not be tolerated.
The Crime Branch has already initiated its probe into the alleged disappearance of the files, with the government maintaining that the investigation will continue until all facts are established and accountability is fixed.
