Balasore, July 5 (UDN): Two unidentified armed miscreants allegedly looted cash from a petrol pump at gunpoint in Odisha’s Balasore district late Friday night before fleeing on a motorcycle. The entire incident was captured on the CCTV cameras installed at the fuel station, police said.

The robbery took place at Darada Petrol Pump in Baliapal at around 11.22 pm.

According to preliminary investigation, a petrol pump employee was attending to a customer when the two accused arrived on a Bullet motorcycle. One of the miscreants allegedly brandished a pistol and threatened the employee, forcing him to hand over the cash kept at the counter.

After snatching the cash, the duo fled the spot on the motorcycle before anyone could intervene.

Following the incident, police rushed to the petrol pump and inspected the scene. CCTV footage showing the robbery has been seized and is being examined to identify the accused and trace their escape route.

A case has been registered, and a search operation has been launched to apprehend the culprits. Police are also verifying the exact amount of cash looted and examining whether the accused had conducted prior reconnaissance before executing the robbery.

The incident has triggered concern among local traders and business owners, with police assuring that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.
