Bhadrak, June 29 (UDN): Tension gripped the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Odisha’s Bhadrak on Monday after a woman security guard was allegedly assaulted on the hospital premises, triggering concerns over the safety of personnel deployed at healthcare facilities.

The injured security guard, identified as Prabhati Raut, is employed with Bhavani Security Guard Agency, which provides security services at the hospital.

According to sources, the incident stemmed from a dispute over duty allocation among security staff. Prabhati had reportedly prevented another woman security guard from performing duty on Sunday night, leading to a disagreement.

The situation took a violent turn on Monday when the husband of the woman guard, accompanied by another person, allegedly arrived at the hospital and confronted Prabhati. An altercation soon escalated into a physical assault, during which Prabhati sustained injuries.

The commotion created panic and disrupted normalcy within the hospital premises for some time. Another security guard also reportedly got involved in the scuffle.

On being informed, police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured guard later lodged a complaint at the local police station.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the incident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe, officials said.

The incident has once again highlighted the need for stronger security mechanisms and effective conflict resolution measures at healthcare institutions.
