New Delhi, Dec 23: Heartfulness has set a new Guinness World Record for the most viewers for a guided meditation livestream on YouTube on World Meditation Day. The meditation was guided by Revered Daaji, Guide of Heartfulness and President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission, marking a major global moment for collective meditation and wellbeing.
The record-setting session formed the centrepiece of World Meditation Day celebrations led by Heartfulness, during which an estimated 20 million people across 175 countries took part at different times through in-person gatherings, institutional sessions, and online participation. This is the first time participation at this scale has been recorded across such a wide geographical spread.
The morning meditation at Kanha Shanti Vanam, the world’s largest meditation centre, was attended by the Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Telangana, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, and the Hon’ble Telangana Minister for IT, Shri D. Sridhar Babu, giving the occasion clear national significance. Their presence reflected meditation’s growing place in public life, as a practical support for wellbeing and social harmony.
World Meditation Day saw strong institutional participation across India. Dhyan Kendras were organised in over 2,500 Madhya Pradesh police stations, with more than 50,000 police personnel joining the guided meditation simultaneously across thousands of centres. Meditation sessions were also across all cities and local governments, schools and colleges, private corporations, showing how widely meditation is being embraced across public life and the workplace. At least 200 embassies and consulates and Indian Council for Cultural Relations also participated in this guided meditation.
Heartfulness’ global network played a critical role in enabling this unprecedented scale. With the support of over 16,000 trained volunteers, meditation sessions were conducted across 280 ashrams and more than 6,000 Heartfulness centres, ensuring seamless coordination across continents. For the first time, participation of 20 million people was recorded from 175 countries, highlighting the truly global nature of this peace initiative.
The event also drew wide media coverage, with over 100 television channels covering the morning meditation and related events, amplifying the message of inner peace and collective consciousness to audiences nationwide.
Daaji’s guided meditation included Pranahuti a core element of the Heartfulness practice. This transmission supports a natural shift towards calmness, clarity and emotional balance. Rooted in the teachings of Lalaji Maharaj and Babuji Maharaj, Heartfulness continues to grow as a global movement under Daaji’s guidance, touching lives across cultures and belief systems.
Heartfulness rests on the understanding that much of human life is shaped by inner states and subtle inspirations. By encouraging people to meditate on the heart, the practice offers a simple yet profound way to navigate everyday life with balance, awareness and purpose.
