New Delhi, Mar 16: TechnoStruct, a global Design & Construction technology company focused on BIM/VDC Services, has successfully provided advanced BIM coordination for the Integrated New Terminal Building at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. Popularly known as “The Bamboo Orchid,” the terminal was inaugurated by Narendra Modi and is recognized as India’s first nature-themed airport.

Designed to handle 13.1 million passengers every year, the terminal’s architecture is inspired by Assam’s iconic “kopouphool” (foxtail orchid) and indigenous bamboo varieties. Backed by a Rs 5,000-crore investment—including Rs 1,000 crore allotted specifically for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities—the project is expected to significantly strengthen the Northeast’s aviation connectivity and position the region as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
To bring this complex design to life, TechnoStruct was engaged during multiple key construction stages, collaborating closely with contractors on the Arrival and Departure Façade, Airside Façade, Cityside Façade, and Drywall works. Through advanced and structured BIM methodologies, TechnoStruct ensured that the intricate design translated into a build-ready digital model, reinforcing execution accuracy at every stage. The company delivered highly coordinated LOD 400 execution models for the construction phase.
Furthermore, for the post-construction phase, TechnoStruct supported the preparation of LOD 500 as-built models integrated with asset coding. This digital documentation ensures that the models can be effectively referenced for future operations, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Roy Aniruddha, Founder and Chairman of TechnoStruct, stated:
“The Bamboo Orchid terminal represents the future of infrastructure. This project presented a meaningful opportunity for TechnoStruct to contribute to India’s aviation growth through advanced BIM technologies and methods. By enabling coordinated LOD 400 execution models and comprehensive LOD 500 as-built documentation, our role in enabling accurate, coordinated BIM delivery ensured that complex design seamlessly transitioned into construction and long-term operational value.”
