Bhadrak, Sept. 21 (UDN): Fishermen along the coastal areas of Odisha’s Bhadrak district have been advised not to venture into the sea until September 23 in view of the prevailing weather conditions caused by a low-pressure system.

Several areas of Basudevpur witnessed rainfall from Sunday night, with showers continuing into Monday. Following the weather conditions, the Basudevpur Fisheries Department issued a precautionary advisory for fishermen engaged in marine fishing activities.

As part of the awareness drive, the department is using public announcement systems in coastal villages to inform fishermen about the restriction and urge them to remain onshore during the advisory period.

Fishermen have also been asked to keep their boats and other fishing equipment in safe locations until the restriction is lifted.

Action Against Violations

The Fisheries Department has warned that action may be taken against those who violate the advisory. Officials have specifically cautioned that boat licences may be seized if fishermen are found venturing into the sea despite the restriction.

The advisory will remain in effect until September 23, and fishermen have been urged to strictly follow the instructions as a precautionary measure.

The department is continuing to monitor the situation and communicate updates to fishing communities in the affected coastal areas.
