Rourkela, Sept. 17 (UDN): A young man died under suspicious circumstances after allegedly being pushed into a water tank in the Lathikata police station area of Rourkela, with police suspecting a dispute over a woman may have led to the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Mallick, while his friend Kamal Das has been named as the alleged accused.

Incident Reportedly Took Place At Night

According to preliminary reports, Kamal allegedly took Abhishek to a water tank late on Wednesday night. The two reportedly remained at the spot until the early hours of Thursday.

During that period, Kamal allegedly pushed Abhishek into the water tank before leaving the area, reports said.

Police Begin Search For Suspect

Following the incident, Kamal allegedly fled the spot. Police have launched efforts to trace him and are investigating the circumstances surrounding Abhishek’s death.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.

Love Dispute Among Suspected Motives

Police are reportedly examining a possible love-related dispute as the motive behind the incident. Investigators are also looking into other possible reasons and circumstances to establish what led to the alleged confrontation.
