Truck driver killed in NH-16 crash near Soro in Balasore

Balasore, Sept. 16 (UDN): A truck driver was killed after a vegetable-laden truck met with an accident on National Highway-16 under Soro police station limits in Balasore district on Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, the truck was carrying vegetables from West Bengal to Cuttack when it was allegedly struck by an unidentified vehicle travelling from the opposite direction.

Driver trapped inside mangled cabin

The impact reportedly caused extensive damage to the front portion of the truck, leaving the driver trapped inside the mangled cabin.

He sustained critical injuries and was reportedly found dead at the spot.

Following information about the crash, personnel from Soro police reached the site and initiated rescue and relief operations. The injured, if any, were reportedly shifted to Soro Medical Centre in a 108 ambulance.

Police launch probe

The vehicles involved in the accident were subsequently removed from the highway and taken to the Soro police station.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and identify the vehicle that allegedly hit the vegetable truck.

Further details, including the identity of the deceased driver and the circumstances leading to the collision, are awaited.
