Bhubaneswar, Sept. 16 (UDN): A family dispute turned deadly in Mahul village under Chandaka police limits in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday after two brothers allegedly hurled explosives at each other, leaving one dead and the other critically injured.
The deceased was identified as Mohan Padhi, while his younger brother Madan Padhi sustained severe injuries in the incident.
Madan was initially taken to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. According to preliminary reports, he suffered serious injuries to his hand.
Explosives reportedly kept at house
Preliminary information suggests that explosives were allegedly kept at the brothers’ house for use in hunting wild animals. However, the circumstances that led to the confrontation and the sequence of events surrounding the incident have not yet been established.
Police are investigating whether the explosives were deliberately used during the altercation and are also examining how the incident unfolded.
Police launch investigation
Following the incident, the Bhubaneswar DCP and personnel from Chandaka police station reached the village and began an investigation.
Police are examining the scene and gathering information from people who may have witnessed the incident. The source of the explosives, their intended use and the circumstances behind the brothers’ confrontation are among the aspects being investigated.
