Kataka UPD Cracks Down on Violations, Collects INR 1.95 Lakh in Fines During Special Enforcement Drive

Kataka, Aug. 31 (UDN): The Kataka Urban Police District (UPD) of the Bhubaneswar-Kataka Commissionerate Police intensified its enforcement drive across the city, booking multiple violators and collecting ₹1.95 lakh in fines during a special operation conducted on August 30.

According to the enforcement report released by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Kataka, the drive focused on road safety, public order and enforcement of various laws.

Eight Drunken Drivers Caught

During the operation, police detected eight cases of drunken driving and carried out the verification of 183 vehicles at different checkpoints across the city.

Apart from traffic violations, authorities collected an additional ₹21,000 under the Odisha Urban Police Act (OUP Act) during the drive.

Action Under Multiple Laws

The enforcement campaign also saw action against violations of other laws. Police booked four persons under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), registered one excise case, and executed one non-bailable warrant (NBW).

Police officials said such intensive enforcement drives will continue to strengthen road safety, improve law enforcement and curb violations across the Kataka Urban Police District.
