Rayagada, Aug. 31 (UDN): The counting of donations deposited in the hundi of the famous Maa Majhighariani Temple in Rayagada began on Monday amid tight security arrangements.

The donation box was opened after nearly two months, with officials from the Revenue Department present to oversee the counting process.

Around 300 women representing various social organisations are participating in the counting of the offerings. Officials and temple authorities are closely monitoring the exercise to ensure transparency and security.

Donations to be Deposited in Bank

For this round of counting, the entire cash collection from the hundi will be deposited in Bank. Bank officials have also been deployed at the temple premises during the counting process.

According to the temple management trust president, the funds collected through donations will be used for the development and maintenance of the temple, besides supporting various social welfare initiatives.

Previous Hundi Collection

The previous counting reportedly generated ₹1.22 crore in cash, along with 32 grams of gold and 1.3 kg of silver.

In addition, around ₹3.97 lakh was received through the temple’s UPI payment facility.

The latest counting exercise is currently underway, with security personnel and officials maintaining strict arrangements at the temple premises.
