Baleshwar, August 18 (UDN): An eight-foot-long python was rescued from a residential house in Mirigini village under Ward No. 4 of Nilagiri NAC in Baleshwar district on Tuesday, bringing relief to the family and nearby residents.

8-Foot Python Rescued From House in Baleshwar, Released Into Kuldiha Sanctuary

According to reports, the python entered the house of Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, where it reportedly killed two chickens and consumed seven eggs.

Pradhan spotted the large reptile inside the house and immediately alerted the Snake Helpline team rather than attempting to remove it himself.

Snake Helpline Conducts Rescue

Responding to the alert, a team of snake rescuers reached the location and carefully began the rescue operation.

After an effort, the team safely captured the python without causing injury to the reptile or residents.

The rescued snake was subsequently handed over to the Forest Department.

Python Released Into Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary

Forest officials later released the python into the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, allowing it to return to its natural habitat.

The incident comes amid increased chances of snakes entering human habitations, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding when reptiles may move from their usual habitats in search of dry shelter.

Forest Department Issues Safety Advisory

The Forest Department has urged residents to remain cautious if they encounter snakes inside homes or residential areas.

Officials advised people not to attempt to catch, attack or handle snakes themselves, as such attempts can put both people and the animal at risk.

Residents have been asked to immediately contact the Forest Department or authorised snake-rescue teams whenever a snake is spotted in a residential area.

The safe rescue and release of the python highlights the importance of trained intervention in preventing unnecessary harm to both wildlife and people.
