Bhubaneswar, Aug. 7: The three-day 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting entered its concluding day in Bhubaneswar on Friday, with Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi joining ministers and senior delegates from member nations for deliberations on strengthening cooperation in education, research and skill development.
Held under India’s BRICS Chairship, the ministerial meeting brought together representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Iran, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates to chart a roadmap for deeper collaboration across the education sector.
The final day’s discussions centred on a wide range of priority areas, including early childhood care and education, vocational and skill development, research and innovation, educational leadership and mechanisms for the mutual recognition of academic qualifications among member countries.
Over the course of the three-day conference, delegates explored ways to strengthen institutional partnerships, encourage academic mobility, expand collaborative research and promote knowledge sharing to address emerging global educational challenges.

Addressing the gathering, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi underscored the importance of collective action in advancing inclusive and future-ready education systems across BRICS nations. Welcoming the visiting delegations, he said India’s longstanding tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ reflects the country’s deep respect for its guests and expressed appreciation to all participating nations for their commitment to the BRICS education agenda.
He noted that the presence of delegates from across the BRICS grouping demonstrated the shared resolve of member countries to deepen cooperation in education and contribute to building stronger academic partnerships through sustained dialogue and collaboration.
The meeting is expected to culminate in a joint understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in higher education, research, innovation, capacity building and skill development, reinforcing BRICS’ role as an important platform for educational collaboration among emerging economies.
The successful hosting of the ministerial meeting has further strengthened Bhubaneswar’s profile as a venue for major international engagements under India’s BRICS Chairship.
