Observing the day, it was stated that Hiroshima stands as a lasting reminder of the unimaginable destruction caused by nuclear weapons and the immense human suffering that followed. The occasion serves as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of preventing such tragedies from recurring.

The message urged people across the world to spread awareness about the catastrophic humanitarian and environmental impacts of nuclear weapons while promoting dialogue, peace and mutual understanding among nations.

“Hiroshima serves as a powerful reminder of the destruction nuclear weapons can cause. On Hiroshima Day, we must renew our pledge to create awareness about their catastrophic impacts and work together towards building a more peaceful and secure future for generations to come,” the statement said.

Hiroshima Day is observed every year on August 6 to commemorate the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing of the Japanese city and to reinforce global efforts aimed at achieving a world free of nuclear weapons.
