Bhubaneswar, July 31 (UDN): The Energy Department, Government of Odisha, on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP) to establish a long-term technical partnership aimed at advancing the state’s clean energy transition.

The collaboration is designed to strengthen Odisha’s efforts towards building a sustainable, resilient and data-driven energy ecosystem through evidence-based planning and innovative policy support.
Under the partnership, CSTEP will provide technical expertise to assist the Energy Department in developing scientific approaches to energy planning and decision-making. The collaboration will also focus on the implementation and enhancement of the SAFARI (Scenario Assessment Framework for Alternatives and Resilient Interventions) model and dashboard, enabling informed policy formulation and strategic planning for the energy sector.
A key component of the partnership will be the promotion of Agrivoltaics (AgriPV)—an integrated approach that combines agricultural activities with solar power generation. The initiative aims to create new income opportunities for farmers while promoting efficient land use and expanding renewable energy capacity across the state.
The MoU reflects the Odisha Government’s commitment to accelerating the adoption of clean and renewable energy solutions while ensuring that the benefits of the energy transition reach rural communities and the agricultural sector.
Through this long-term collaboration, the Energy Department and CSTEP will work together to support sustainable energy policies, improve energy resilience and contribute to Odisha’s vision of achieving inclusive and environmentally responsible growth.
The initiative is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the state’s renewable energy roadmap and advancing its commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
