Nuapada Records Odisha’s Highest Rainfall at 164 mm; IMD Reports 8 Very Heavy Rainfall Stations
Bhubaneswar, July 30 (UDN): Several parts of Odisha witnessed intense monsoon showers during the last 24 hours, with Nuapada district recording the highest rainfall in the state, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The latest rainfall bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, at 8:30 am on July 30, shows that Sinapalli in Nuapada received 164 mm of rainfall, the highest recorded in Odisha during the period.
Another two stations in Nuapada also figured among the state’s wettest locations, with Khariar recording 155 mm and Boden receiving 152 mm of rainfall.
Paikmal in Bargarh recorded 157.5 mm, while Jharigaon (135 mm) and Umerkote (125 mm) in Nabarangpur also witnessed very heavy rainfall. Other areas receiving significant rainfall included Golamunda (134 mm) in Kalahandi and Komna (119.3 mm) in Nuapada.
According to the IMD, eight weather stations recorded very heavy rainfall, while 19 stations reported heavy rainfall across Odisha during the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Thursday.
Among other prominent rainfall figures were Dubugaon (115.2 mm) and Nawapara (115 mm) in Nuapada, Borigumma (111.6 mm) in Koraput, Padampur (103 mm) in Bargarh and Bangomunda (97 mm) in Balangir.
The widespread rainfall has led to rising river levels, waterlogging in several areas and flood-like conditions in parts of western and southern Odisha. District administrations are keeping a close watch on the evolving situation and have urged residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, to remain vigilant and follow official advisories.
