Bhubaneswar, July 22 (UDN): In a major push to industrial development, the Odisha government has approved investment proposals worth ₹4,573.87 crore for 23 new industrial projects, paving the way for the creation of 22,873 employment opportunities across the state.
The proposals were cleared at the 148th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg. The projects are aligned with the state’s long-term industrial growth strategy under the Samruddha Odisha 2036 vision.
The approved investments span a wide range of sectors, including information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITES), renewable energy, battery manufacturing, chemicals, textiles, food processing, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, steel downstream industries, infrastructure, logistics and tourism.
Investments Across 11 Districts
The projects will be implemented in Angul, Balangir, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Puri and Sundargarh, extending industrial expansion beyond established urban hubs while creating employment opportunities at the local level.
Major Projects
Among the biggest investments, HCL Technologies Ltd. will establish a Global Development Centre in Khordha with an investment of ₹730 crore, expected to generate 6,000 jobs.
In the renewable energy sector, ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. will invest ₹778 crore to set up an alkaline electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Ganjam, creating 480 jobs.
Meanwhile, GGB Battery India Pvt. Ltd. will establish a zinc-anode battery manufacturing unit in Cuttack with an investment of ₹202.5 crore, providing employment to 254 people. Another major infrastructure project includes a 100 MW captive solar photovoltaic power plant by Envirocare Infrasolution Pvt. Ltd. in Angul with an investment of ₹351 crore.
Textile Sector Emerges as Major Employer
The textile and apparel sector received a significant boost with four manufacturing projects in Puri and Balangir. Companies including SAPL Industries, SPL Industries, Richa Global Exports and Astha Cotspin are expected to collectively create more than 10,000 jobs, making the sector one of the largest employment generators among the newly approved projects.
Growth in Chemicals and Manufacturing
The chemical industry also attracted substantial investments through projects proposed by Growing Tree Oil & Refinery, Transpek Industry, Tirupati Microtech and Krebs International in Nuapada, Ganjam, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj. These ventures are projected to create over 1,900 employment opportunities.
Healthcare, Logistics and Tourism Get a Boost
The SLSWCA also approved several projects in healthcare, logistics, steel and hospitality. These include a 300-bed multi-speciality hospital in Cuttack, a railway siding project by Tata Steel in Keonjhar, logistics parks in Sundargarh and Dhenkanal, and three five-star hotel projects in Cuttack, Sambalpur and Khordha.
State officials said the latest approvals reinforce Odisha’s growing reputation as a preferred investment destination. They added that the Single Window Clearance System continues to facilitate faster project approvals and smoother implementation, helping accelerate industrialisation and employment generation across the state.
